Remendable Polymers

 nanoComposix has partnered with SensorMetrix to commercialize an emerging technology and pioneer a new class of self-healing fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) materials. Matrix cracking is an incipient failure mechanism that leads to a primary weakness in many FRP composite applications – including limitations in structure lifetime or requirements for costly inspection and/or replacement. Together, nanoComposix and SensorMetrix are developing a highly cross-linked, self-healing polymer that has the potential to repair thermally and mechanically induced microcracks.
