
Custom Nanomaterial Fabrication
Here at nanoComposix we specialize in multifunctional and multicomposite nanomaterials as well as custom formulations like surfaces, concentrations, and solution transfers of silver and gold nanoparticles. Many of our custom syntheses are based on our NanoXact Silver and NanoXact Gold product lines.
Biofunctionalization
To facilitate distribution and targeting of nanoparticles, there are a wide range of biofunctionalized particles available from nanoComposix. In addition to those currently available, nanoparticles can be customized through functionalization for your target of choice. NanoComposix has successfully functionalized gold and silver as well as silica-shelled particles with a wide-range of small molecules including PEG, peptides, DNA, polymers, and proteins.
One of our specialities is concentrating colloidal particles with ultra-high purity for toxicity testing. Most commercially available products contain residual products from synthesis. There is evidence that the residual products may be responsible for the observed toxicity of some materials. To minimize the effect of residual products, we have developed a high throughput processing platform that allows us to concentrate and wash tens of liters of nanoparticles. Stable formulations up to 1000 times the standard concentration of colloids are also available.
Silica Coatings
Core-shell fluorescent silica nanoparticles are now available to provide a bright, stable, and readily detectable label for the imaging community. The fluorescent nanoparticles are amine terminated and readily functionalizable using various biolinkers. The gold metallic core increases the density of the nanoparticles allowing for the fluorescent nanoparticles to be isolated with centrifugation and to be clearly identified when visualizing with electron microscopy. PEGylated versions of the fluorescent nanoparticles have been observed to circulate in vivo for over an hour.
Surface (charge, polymers, stabilizers)
Metal particles often need to be functionalized for a number of reasons ranging from being integrated into devices to increasing stability in physiological solutions. Our expertise in nanotechnology can help create nano solutions for your scientific needs. Surface charges can be changed, polymers and surfactants can be added for stability, and particles can be transferred to solutions or dried to help your nanomaterial integration.
