nanoComposix, Inc. Receives Army Research Grant SAN DIEGO, CA. -November 17, 2005- nanoComposix, Inc, a privately held nanomaterials research company, announced today that it has been awarded a $70,000 Phase I Small Business Innovative Research Grant from the US Army on the subject of anisotropic obscurant packaging During the six month project, nanoComposix will develop methods to efficiently package obscurant materials that consist of high aspect ratio conductive nanoparticles. The nanoflake and nanorod materials will be surface coated and aligned to maximize the mass loading of infrared obscruant materials. The packaging will be critical for the development of a next-generation obscruant material that will effectively block night vision imaging and military seeker technology. "The assembly of high aspect ratio nanoscale materials into a format that is both densely packed and can be easily disseminated is a challenging problem. The nanoparticles are fragile and strongly interact. The development of a packaging technology for these materials is critical for the development of high performance next-generation obscurant technologies." said Dr. Steven Oldenburg, nanoComposix's President. nanoComposix is a nanotechnology-based research company that fabricates, characterizes, and develops applications for nanoparticles. The company was founded in 2004 and is based in San Diego, CA. Contact: media@nanocomposix.com << RETURN TO LIST OF PRESS RELEASES >>
