Nanotoxicologist (Permanent, Full Time)

Position Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing research on the environmental, health, and safety issues associated with the production and use of nanomaterials. Both commercially available and in-house produced nanomaterials will be characterized to determine their size, shape, surface chemistry, and size distribution and aggregation state in aerosol and liquid formats. Coupled with research from our toxicologist collaborators, this data will assist in the compilation of a structure-function database that assigns risk profiles to various classes of nanomaterials. Life-cycle assessments of nanomaterials will also be performed to determine the fate and transport of nanomaterials in the environment. The results will be published in leading nanotechnology and environmental toxicology journals.

Essential Requirements:

  • PhD in Toxicology, Environmental Engineering, or Nanoparticle Chemistry
  • Experience researching the toxicological effects of nanoparticles on the environment, animals, or human health

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience incorporating nanoparticles into standard toxicology screens, tests, and methodologies
